DNSBL* - is a list of IP addresses published through the Internet Domain Name Service (DNS) either as a zone file that can be used by DNS server software, or as a live DNS zone that can be queried in real-time. DNSBLs are most often used to publish the addresses of computers or networks linked to spamming; most mail server software can be configured to reject or flag messages which have been sent from a site listed on one or more such lists.
WHOIS** - is a query/response protocol that is widely used for querying databases in order to determine the registrant or assignee of Internet resources, such as a domain name, an IP address block, or an autonomous system number. WHOIS lookups were traditionally performed with a command line interface application, and network administrators predominantly still use this method, but many simplified web-based tools exist. WHOIS services are typically communicated using the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). Servers listen to requests on the well-known port number 43.
** Approximate Geographic Location - This is NOT the exact geographical location of the person/organization with the given IP address. However, this should still give you a good idea about the area/region where this person/orgranization is located.
Complaint by Ole Køster :
To whom it may concern. Hello, I am the manager of a webshop in Denmark which on the 13th of November had a visit from China from IP 60.216.184.227. I have since that day received about 100 spam mails a day from China similar to the ones I've attached below. My guess is that the owner has stolen a 'Tellafriend'-script from the webshop, and now he's using that script to send us spam to the built-in e-mail address. I would kindly urge you to locate the owner of that IP-address and make him stop spamming at once as he is ruining our business. Kind regards, Ole Køster www.blomsterkrammeriet.dk Attached some examples of the spam coming from different computermade e-mail adresses with fictive names all ending on @163.com : changxiongzu, wujianglong@163.com, har anbefalet Blomsterkrammeriet til disse e-mail adresser: 18796985317 med følgende besked: ´L·qªº²Ä3628008392¦ì¹Å»«¡GµoºÖ§Q¤F¡BµoºÖ§Q¤F¡BµoºÖ§Q¤F¡I ¡iA¡jµá*«ß*»«²{³õÆUª½¼½¡A·sª`¥U¥Ó½Ð¼f®Ö³q¹L°e28±mª÷¡A ¡¶º¦sÃØ°e50%¡A¤Ñ¤ÑFanÂI1.2¡A ¡¶¸êª÷¶¯«p¡B«HÅA«OÃÒ¡B¤jÃBµL¼~ ¡¶¶û¥h¿D´eªº³Â·Ð¡A¦bºô¤W¤@¼Ë¥i¥H¶}¤ßÅéÅç¡I >>Á`³¡¦b¡iµá¡j---¦Xªk°õ·Ó¸¹¡GNO.CF-163 >>>>>>µL»ÝµS¿Ý°¨¤Wµn³°¡G¡i 6060622.com ¡j >>¦© or: qiaochaxing, rongpeidan@163.com, har anbefalet Blomsterkrammeriet til disse e-mail adresser: 13975723025 med følgende besked: ´L·qªº²Ä11980550¦ì¹Å»«¡GµoºÖ§Q¤F¡BµoºÖ§Q¤F¡BµoºÖ§Q¤F¡I ¡iA¡jµá*«ß*»«²{³õÆUª½¼½¡A·sª`¥U¥Ó½Ð¼f®Ö³q¹L°e28±mª÷¡A ¡¶º¦sÃØ°e50%¡A¤Ñ¤ÑFanÂI1.2¡A ¡¶¸êª÷¶¯«p¡B«HÅA«OÃÒ¡B¤jÃBµL¼~ ¡¶¶û¥h¿D´eªº³Â·Ð¡A¦bºô¤W¤@¼Ë¥i¥H¶}¤ßÅéÅç¡I >>Á`³¡¦b¡iµá¡j---¦Xªk°õ·Ó¸¹¡GNO.CF-163 >>>>>>µL»ÝµS¿Ý°¨¤Wµn³°¡G¡i 6060622.com ¡j >>¦© and so on.
