Spam emails claiming that my IP (which is not 69.49.30.200, of course) is being used to send spam and that my "Broadband internet account" (*snort*) will be blocked. A URL given to "scan", but I will not click, as I am not an idiot.

This is an attempt to scam people. Of course I would never click the link, but some folks may not know better and have their computer trashed by these idiots. I would like to know to whom I can complain to have them put out of business. Life is hard enough without putting up with things like this.

Complaint by Kath :

Just noticed some weird login attempts from an unknown side earlier today. My dashboard went nuts and spit out a ton of 404 errors and failed logins. Ive been around code for years and this stinks like bot traffic. Probably a scr1pt kidd1e or a botn3t ******** with my WP files. Funny thing the user agent string looked like garbage123 LOL. Gonna block that range before they get any ideas. If anyone else sees random POST hits hitting your admin pages, check ur logs ASAP. You cant be too careful these days.

QuotesChimp solution to this problem would be to create a new state office: Public Advocate. The job of Public Advocate would be to take the side of the average insurance consumer when matters of premium rate increases, insurance policy wording, insurance legislation, or other issues of vital import to consumers are being debated in the legislature or decided by the insurance commissioner. A Public Advocate would have the time, money, information, and ability to effectively represent the consumer's point of view. This is extremely important from my perspective because I do not believe that the consumer is adequately represented in government. This new office would balance the equation.

Please help us keep Internet safer and cleaner by leaving a descriptive comment about 69.49.30.200 IP address

DNSBL* - is a list of IP addresses published through the Internet Domain Name Service (DNS) either as a zone file that can be used by DNS server software, or as a live DNS zone that can be queried in real-time. DNSBLs are most often used to publish the addresses of computers or networks linked to spamming; most mail server software can be configured to reject or flag messages which have been sent from a site listed on one or more such lists.

WHOIS** - is a query/response protocol that is widely used for querying databases in order to determine the registrant or assignee of Internet resources, such as a domain name, an IP address block, or an autonomous system number. WHOIS lookups were traditionally performed with a command line interface application, and network administrators predominantly still use this method, but many simplified web-based tools exist. WHOIS services are typically communicated using the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). Servers listen to requests on the well-known port number 43.

** Approximate Geographic Location - This is NOT the exact geographical location of the person/organization with the given IP address. However, this should still give you a good idea about the area/region where this person/orgranization is located.
